Sabine Lippert (aka Trytobead) is a German bead artist, teacher, and prolific designer known for her exquisite bead-weaving creations and her infectious passion for all things tiny and sparkly. Trained originally as a physician, Sabine left medicine behind to devote herself full-time to the world of beads.

A needle worker since childhood, she has always loved experimenting with yarn-related techniques such as crochet and knitting. While these crafts remained a personal passion for many years, the growing enthusiasm from her community has led her to publish more and more knitting and crochet patterns alongside her beadwork.

Her designs — whether in beads, yarn, or mixed techniques — are vibrant, colorful, and full of playful structure. She is known for patterns that balance beauty with logic, making the process of creating as enjoyable as the finished piece. Through her brand Trytobead, she publishes patterns, leads workshops in Germany and internationally, and shares her designs in books to inspire makers everywhere.

At the heart of her work is a simple philosophy: creating should be joyful, accessible, and full of discovery.

Pretty As A Peacock

Who doesn’t love the look of peacock feathers?! This bead embroidered cuff starts with a ribbon patterned like peacock feathers — it’s such a striking base.

Right in the center, there’s a pear-shaped crystal set in filigree metal, accented with tiny sparkly stones that really catch the light. Around that focal, we’ll build a spiral of seed beads, which also doubles as edging for the bracelet. To bring the peacock theme to life, goldwork wires form the feather quill, and vintage crystal rondelles become the “eyes.”

Along each edge, a cupchain runs, with seed beads tucked in for extra shimmer. It’s not a complicated project, but you’ll definitely pick up some fun new techniques while making it.

Midnight City

Midnight City is a striking long necklace composed of four double-sided, rhombus-shaped components, each designed to be admired from every angle. The bi-color construction and varied embellishments give each element its own personality, creating a sophisticated interplay of light, texture, and contrast that shifts beautifully with every movement of the wearer.

The architectural shapes evoke the rhythm and geometry of a cityscape after dark, while the thoughtful use of color and surface detail adds depth and intrigue. Delicate beaded chains link the components together, providing fluidity and balance while allowing the pendants themselves to remain the undeniable focal points of the design.

Constructed using Right Angle Weave (RAW) and modified RAW techniques, Midnight City is a rewarding project that combines structure with elegance, resulting in a versatile statement necklace that feels modern, dynamic, and effortlessly wearable.

Kits: $X each.
Kit colors: Silver Blue Green • Pink Orange Gold • Vintage Copper Rose

Valoria

Valoria is a bold yet refined statement necklace centered around a dramatic crystal focal. Using a modified netting technique, you will securely capture a large crystal stone with an intricate framework of seed beads, pearls, and Rose Montees, creating a richly textured and dimensional centerpiece.

The necklace is finished with one of Beki’s favorite techniques, a gracefully graduated Spiral Rope, adding fluid movement and a luxurious drape that perfectly balances the strength of the focal design.

Elegant, adaptable, and striking in any colorway, Valoria is a timeless piece that showcases both structure and artistry, making it as rewarding to create as it is to wear.

Beki Haleyhas been in love with beads for over 50 years now. She was introduced to the amazing art form of seed bead weaving by her grandmother when she was a child. That early start in exploring the intricacy and fine detail that can be attained with seed beads has stayed with Beki throughout her life. Even as a young teen, Beki loved teaching others all the beautiful things that can be created with beads. She has over 40 years of teaching experience in several different venues from large auditorium settings to intimate one-on-one classes and everything in between.

Training as a classic silversmith at a young age gave Beki an appreciation and understanding of the art and beauty of jewelry design. Beki uses those formal skills to teach the technical aspects of jewelry design. In her classes, the students learn the importance of attention to detail and craftsmanship while exploring their natural creativity. Her love of beads led Beki to open her own bead store, Out On A Whim, in 1986. With her husband, four children, several animals, and days filled with beads, Beki’s life is complete. During any stressful time in her life, Beki turns to her beads for comfort and calm. The meditative action of beading is the perfect tool to bring peace and joy to her otherwise busy and chaotic life. Sharing that joy by teaching others how to create with beads is a blessing beyond measure.
